Tailwind Weekly #233: StyleX, SVG fundamentals, and caching guide š¤
Hello folks!
A couple of new shadcn components and a wind update this week. You've got Flavio Copes walking through StyleX, Josh Comeau on SVG basics, and Jono Alderson's full guide to HTTP caching.
Let's dive in š
š Community News
fluttersdk/wind releases 2 new releases
wind, the Tailwind-style utilities for Flutter from #231, shipped two releases. 1.7.0 adds contrastRatio and contrastForeground, so you can pick readable text on top of a color your user chooses. 1.8.0 is a performance pass: hover-only WDivs drop their focus node and stop being Tab stops, WDiv skips the Container wrapper, and keyboard animations no longer rebuild every styled widget. There's a new WAnchor.trackFocus flag too.
New components in the shadcn ecosystem
Two registries shipped new pieces this week.
- @coss (Origin UI): two new particles,
p-select-24, a color-palette Select with three-color swatches, andp-radio-group-10, palette radio cards in a four-column grid. - @animateicons: 1,100+ animated Lucide and Huge icons for React after a big batch of additions, and it's now listed in the official shadcn directory. Each icon installs as one editable file.

A deep dive into StyleX
Flavio Copes covers how StyleX turns JavaScript style objects into atomic CSS classes at build time, with React + Vite and Astro setup, variants, themes, and responsive styles. The browser gets normal CSS, no runtime injection.
A complete guide to HTTP caching
Jono Alderson unpacks Cache-Control, validators, freshness math, CDN quirks (Cloudflare), and recipes for static assets, HTML, APIs, and auth pages. Useful if you've ever mixed up no-cache with "don't cache."
A Friendly Introduction to SVG
Josh Comeau walks through inline SVG as first-class DOM, basic shapes, viewBox scaling, and stroke tricks like stroke-dashoffset for draw-on animations. Solid foundation if SVG still feels intimidating.
