Tailwind Weekly #28: Special come back issue!
Hello folks!
After a 2 months hiatus Tailwind Weekly is back š. Starting next week, every Saturday Iāll grace your inbox with the glory of our ecosystem updates and Iāll also be experimenting with new stuff (like adding new sections) in the future. You know, to spice things up.
But this issue is a special one. You see, right when I put Tailwind Weekly on pause, the Tailwind team started moving at the speed of light and launching new stuff on a cadence never seen before! This email is more or less a summary of those updates since the last issue.

- Built-in support for background gradients
- New background-clip utilities
- New feature flagging and deprecation system to use new breaking changes stuff today, that will be native in v2.0
- New gap classes names, set under the removeDeprecatedGapUtilities flag
- New contents display utility
- Default letter-spacing per font-size
- New divide border styles

- New font-variant-numeric utilities
- New place-items, place-content, place-self, justify-items, and justify-self utilities
- Dark mode variant (experimental)

- New presets key that makes it possible to configure a custom ābase configurationā for your projects.
- New utilities for grid-auto-columns and grid-auto-rows
- New Focus indicator improvements and configurable outlines
- Extended border radius, rotate, and skew scales

Introducing Tailwind Play ā Tailwind CSS
Remember tailwind.run? Well, the tailwind team decided to make their own improved version. I highly recommend you watch their promo video, its š¤Æ.

Headless UI ā Unstyled, fully accessible UI components
Remember back in May when Adam demoed a new ārenderlessā component made with Vue? Well, that idea is now a small but growing library called Headless UI.
As of now they have React and Vue versions but Alpineās is coming soon and they also made new components like Dropdowns and Toggles.
Tailwind got a new youtube channel
The Tailwind team decided to up their youtube game and itās definitely paying off, Simon (employee #2) is doing an excellent job and Iām really liking the content so far.
Introducing Heroicons.com
Heroicons, the icons pack made by Tailwindās Designer Steve, is now an official icons companion for TailwindCSS and has its own website.
So far itās 226 icons and growing. Definitely a project to keep an eye on in the future.
