Tailwind Weekly #89: an upcoming official job board, another crypto site, and one more component library!

Hey everyone, due to some email misconfiguration all the links in today's issue were broken, the problem has now been fixed and I'm resending it, sorry for the trouble!

Hello folks!

It's official, the Tailwind UI team is working on a job board! I'm very excited about this, now we'll have a central place to look for Tailwind CSS devs 😁.

Now onto our usual content πŸ˜‰.

🌟 News

It looks like they decided to team up with Peter, one of Reform's creators, which means the site is gonna be slick!

Besides that, we got a few minor releases, some highlights:

  • You can now add a default font-weight for each font size utility
  • The safelist config now has support for alpha values

πŸ“š Learning

Are you sure that’s a number input?

This article really resonated with me, especially because I have worked with the exact same examples that the author mentions, that is, numbers that don't need to increment/decrement. I always find myself removing that little control widget with CSS. Now I know an accessible alternative!

How to add Tailwind to Hugo

This one is short and sweet, just like Florian always writes. The tutorial is pretty straightforward and the only Hugo-specific thing is right at the end. If you use Hugo and want to try out Tailwind CSS then this article is for you.

How to add Tailwind CSS to an existing project

Written by me! Since I'm a freelance developer I sometimes get projects where I need to work with an existing codebase. If I want to add Tailwind CSS to it then there are a few gotchas I need to take into account. This article outlines them and shows how I usually do it. I hope you like it!

πŸ’… Showcase

Thirdweb

In my opinion, the crypto craze of the last few years has produced some really amazing sites. Thirdweb is one of them! With dark colors, beautiful gradients, and clean typography this site looks beautiful.

For the curious, here's Thirdweb's description:

Build web3 apps easily. Implement web3 features with powerful SDKs for developers. Drop NFTs with no code. β€” Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, & more.

🎁 Resource

daisyUI

Here's another Tailwind CSS component library for you! This one is a bit different, it works as a Tailwind plugin and comes with already created classes like btn and card , which you can further customize with Tailwind's utility classes.

Become a Pro at building components & layouts with CSS Flexbox and Grid with the Complete Guide to CSS Flex and Grid ebook by Shruti Balasa. I actually read this book and LOVED IT. I have been using flexbox and CSS grid for years and I still learned quite a few things from the book.

I highly recommend LambdaTest as your cross-browser testing tool, with it you can test on IE11, Safari, and most mobile browsers, it also has a very easy-to-use interface, it’s very fast, and they have a lot of automated testing features too. You can use the coupon code TAILWIND15 for 15% off the annual plan.

PixelSnap 2 is the fastest tool for measuring anything on your screen. I use it as part of my front-end development workflow to make sure I'm translating screens as close as possible to the design.
